Nos. 106\u2013 97\u20138 and 75\u201328\u20135, respectively) are colorless, flammable gases at normal temperatures and pressures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are easily liquefied under pressure at room temperature and are stored and shipped in the liquid state. The butanes are obtained from natural gas by fractionation following absorption in oil, adsorption to surface-active agents, or refrigeration.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(b) The ingredients must be of a purity suitable for their intended use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(c) In accordance with \u00a7184.1(b)(1), these ingredients are used in food with no limitations other than current good manufacturing practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The affirmation of these ingredients as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) as direct human food ingredients is based upon the following current good manufacturing practice conditions of use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(1) The ingredients are used as propellants, aerating agents, and gases as defined in \u00a7 170.3(o)(25) of this chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) The ingredients are used in food at levels not to exceed current good manufacturing practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(d) Prior sanctions for these ingredients different from the uses established in this section do not exist or have been waived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[48 FR 57270, Dec. 29, 1983, as amended at 73 FR 8607, Feb. 14, 2008; 76 FR 59249, Sept. 26, 2011]\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cdrh\/cfdocs\/cfcfr\/cfrsearch.cfm?fr=184.1655\">https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cdrh\/cfdocs\/cfcfr\/cfrsearch.cfm?fr=184.1655<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>TITLE 21&#8211;FOOD AND DRUGS<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>CHAPTER I&#8211;FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATIONDEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>SUBCHAPTER B&#8211;FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION (CONTINUED)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210919142608\/https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cdrh\/cfdocs\/cfcfr\/CFRSearch.cfm?CFRPart=184\">PART 184 &#8212; DIRECT FOOD SUBSTANCES AFFIRMED AS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AS SAFE<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subpart B&#8211;Listing of Specific Substances Affirmed as GRAS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Sec. 184.1655 Propane.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>(a) Propane (empirical formula C3H8, CAS Reg.
